Why Turtles are Green

Once long long ago in a distant land there lived two Draenei, they were sisters and one was a pretty blue colour with a very swishy thin tail and the other was taller and not as blue and had a much fatter tail, but they loved each other very much.

The two Draenei journeyed together far and wide across the lands, stopping to study the wild life, or sniff the flowers or when they got very smelly to take a bath.

One day they came across a very large and wide river, the waters were running very fast, fed from the distant snow capped mountains.

The two Draenei stood upon the river bank looking across at the tree lined slops beyond

"What are we to do?” The fat tailed Draenei said to her sister



The thin tailed pretty blue Draenei dipped her hoof into the water, before replying "We could try swimming maybe"

The fat tailed tall Draenei peered at the fast running icy cold water and shook her head "No Sister we will surely drown and be carried out to sea"

At that moment a large pink turtle came waddling out of the bushes and stopped by the two strange blue creatures.

The thin tailed pretty blue Draenei smiled and curtsied at the Turtle " Good morning Mr Turtle" She said, although of course she said it in turtle talk so it sounded more like a funny mooooo, because turtle talk sounds a lot like Mooing.

The turtle was very surprised to come across a creature that spoke in turtle talk and stopped its slow waddle to reply

Mooo moooo Moooo MOOO said the turtle which translated means "Hello funny blue hoofy horned things, where are you off to?"

The pretty blue Draenei beamed a cheerful smile at the pink Turtle and Moooed back at him "We were trying to get to the other side of the river Mr Turtle, but it seems this water is far to deep and fast flowing for us to swim, would you perhaps know of any bridge close by?"

The pink turtle eyed up the two funny looking creatures the tall one seemed to be encased in a shiny shell which glistened in the sun "Well there is no bridge for hundreds of miles" Replied the turtle

"But maybe I could help you both across, if you were to pay me for my trouble"

"And what would you take for doing us this favour" The pretty blue Draenei asked

"Well" Mooed the turtle "I like the look of that shiny shell your companion has on, If I had that I would be the envy of all the other turtles for miles around"

So after much discussion the tall fat tailed Draenei removed all the shiny bits of her shell from around her and gave them to the pink turtle who waddled away and stashed them away in his turtle nest before returning.

The two Draenei then clambered up onto the pink turtles shell and he waddled into the fast flowing river and swam across, allowing the two sisters to continue their journey and find more wild life to study and flowers to sniff.

When the turtle returned to his turtle tribe dressed in his wonderful new shiny shell, all the other turtles turned from pink to green with envy

and forever afterwards turtles would strive to replace their non shiny shells with the shiny armour of any unwary adventurers and to this very day most turtles have remained green skinned with envy.

and remember if you ever see a turtle be very careful of where you put your armour down.
