An infernal charged
through the formation of rams, swatting its fiery arms from side to
side. The formation broke and some of the rams bolted. The descent
from Ironforge gave the dwarven defenders momentum, but with that
came a loss of control. They descended into a wave of Felfire, spewed
forth from the invading legion ship above, some lept from the descent
at the last minute and prayed for hope their ram would land safely,
others threw themselves from their mounts. Those who charged, hoping
that speed would carry them through were burnt alive, their charred
remains not making it much beyond several feet into the inferno.
Some, had called upon
the light to see them through and for a time it had carried their
dwarven steeds and them to safety, enabling them time to prepare for
combat. The dwarven paladins were few and far between, but their holy
light was quickly targeted by the demons.
“They’re picking
off those who wield the light!” Gahdoan flipped his visor up again,
swatting an incoming fel bat out the way that looked much larger
through his visor.
“They’re trying to
whittle-” Aevah paused, hoofing a keg of Thunderbrew up at a demon
and then throwing her sword through it. The demon caught the keg with
a brief snort, but instantly grew silent once the blade pierced the
keg, the liquid within and then finally it’s face. With an agility
unbefitting her armour, Aevah went to run up the demon to pull her
sword from it’s face, but only served to knock it to the ground
with the force of a tombstone. Yanking her sword free she continued
“They’re trying to whittle us down, protect the healers!” She
swung her sword off to her right, similar to that of a club, slicing
an imp clean in half.
Hahfmood clapped his
hammers together, a bell-like sound drawing the attention of a
succubus who was closing on a gnome. “Come, foul demon, pick on
someone your own size.” They exchanged blows for a moment; claw
meeting hammer a few times. The succubus drew a whip as Hahfmood
charged his hammers with flame, and the two stepped round each other
a few times.
Whip now drawn the
succubus lashed out at him, causing Hahfmood to raise a hammer to
block the incoming whip, with an almighty crack, the whip wrapped
round the hammer. Despite a brief struggle, the hammer was wrenched
from his grasp and tossed into the snow. The succubus cackled,
recoiling her whip and preparing to strike again. “Today shall be
yo-”
“Coming through!”
Gahdoan charged the succubus with his shield at full pelt, a Felhound
already caught on the front of it, he slammed the two of them into
the side of the distillery with an almighty smash, partially damaging
the wall but annihilating the demons in a spray of Felblood and
pained cries. He part laughed, part groaned as he winced at the pain
from charging a wall.
“You are insane
brother!” Hahfmood rummaged in the snow, “But this is part of the
reason I stick around.” He raised his rediscovered hammer up
triumphantly, only to have it snatched from his snowy grasp by a
Felbat. “Son of an eredar!” He charged his other hammer with a
small amount of lightning and tossed it after the bat. “You forgot
one!” He yelled, drawing the attention of the Felbat. It went to
grasp the other hammer in mid air, only to receive an almighty shock
and drop from the sky. Hahfmood looked to Gahdoan, “I’ll be over
there...collecting my hammers.” He sighed dejectedly, trotting off
to the southern part of Kharanos.
Aevah glanced down the
way towards her companions, “They are not letting up!” Her eyes
were drawn to the sky to an almighty fireball falling from the sky,
“look out!” She yelled, barely finishing the sentence before the
fireball hit the ground hard. A Fel Reaver rose from the explosion
and roared at the Kharanos fighters.
Gahdoan turned towards
Aevah “Hahfmood was in that explosion!” He turned back and
charged for the Fel Reaver. He built up immense speed in his charge,
creating almost a wake in the falling snow, connecting hard with the
left leg of the reaver it knocked it’s balance slightly, only to
have it kick him back with a much greater force.
The shield buckled and
shattered, resulting in Gahdoan being tossed like a ragdoll up
Kharanos. Aevah ran forth as Gahdoan was pushed back, slashing at a
Felhound as she leapt over both Gahdoan and a corpse. She would have
taken his sword to assist her in her fight, but with the number of
demons around she didn’t want him to be left unarmed. A quick view
of her surroundings and she chose to stick by Gahdoan, rather than
trying to search for Hahfmood near the Fel Reaver. She sighed,
looking round for reinforcements, Kharanos was in disarray with
corpses littering the ground and blood decorating the walls. She
reached into her collar and pulled out a necklace, a large blue
object on the end. “One time, one time only.” She muttered to
herself, connecting with it with a kiss.
Meanwhile in the
Exodar,
“Are you sure you
don’t want a cookie?” Eudaimonia offered up the remnants on the
plate from the meeting of the Echoes. Erusi grinned, shaking a hand.
“I am fine thank you Consul.”
“I think,” Erusi
added, “I think, today went well. People are prepared.” Erusi
took a sharp intake of breath, the normal glow in her eyes
disappearing slightly.
Eudaimonia picked up on
straight away, “What is wrong?” She put the plate down and seemed
instantly on edge.
“Grab your weapons, I
need your help.” Erusi raised her hand towards her staff, it moved
fast; connecting with her grasp. In one fluid motion she shook it and
it turned to a holy mist, retreating up her sleeve. Eudaimonia was at
her side, weapons at the ready. “Where are we going?”
“Kharanos, but I need
a clear path to give us a portal.” Erusi interjected, heading for
the main walkway of the traders tier.
“The descent to
O’ros!” Eudaimonia snapped her fingers over one of her hammers,
maintaining a steady grip on it. She had already begun sprinting for
the centre of the Exodar.
“When I tell you to
jump, do it!” Erusi waited a moment and sprinted after Eudai.
“Jump!” Erusi shouted after her and sure enough Eudaimonia
obliged. Diving underneath her; Erusi returned to her dragon form,
and leapt up, catching Eudaimonia out of the air on her back.
“Hold on tight!”
Erusi threw in, leaping over the crystal barrier and flew up as high
as she could within the confines of the Exodar.
“Demons?”
Eudaimonia guessed, based on the attacks that had been happening
recently.
“Correct, we have
been called to help.” Erusi added, a portal having formed a few
feet above O’ros at the base of the descent. “Charge your
hammers, I need as much lightning as you can muster.”
Eudaimonia spun her
hammers in her hands, holding them above her head. Erusi doubled over
and the two went into a dive, the lightning from Eudai’s hammers
begun connecting with the crystal corridor as they descended
downwards.
Aevah slashed at a
Voidwalker and then bashed one of it’s binding cuffs away with the
hilt of the sword, as half of it dispersed her eyes were drawn
skyward to a sparking blue portal. A brief smile crossed her face as
a dragon burst forth from the portal carrying someone atop it. An
almighty roar filled the sky as the pair dove towards the Fel Reaver.
“Now!” Erusi
screamed, Eudaimonia directed her hammers forwards, dragging
lightning from the sky and emptying the hammers into the Fel Reaver.
It lit up brighter than the setting sun before it’s head popped
from the sheer force of the incoming lightning.
Erusi grinned, “Ready
to hit the ground and give ‘em hell?” She asked, “Oh yes.”
Eudaimonia gripped Erusi’s back, knowing full well what she was
going to do. Sure enough, Erusi dove forwards, rolling and coming
back towards Kharanos.
Eudaimonia slid off
Erusi, allowing her to transform back. The two ran into the swarm and
bashed away a few demons, allowing them to catch eyesight of Aevah.
“Is that who we are here to see?” Eudaimonia smashed her hammers
into a succubus as Erusi split it in two with a wave of light.
“It is indeed,”
Erusi threw a wave forward past the demons that enveloped Aevah and
Gahdoan in a protective shield. Looking around they both took stock
of the battle. “Looks like there was some time before we were
called.” Eudai added,
Erusi simply nodded,
kneeling down and putting a hand on one of the bodies. “We have
time,” she rose back to her hooves and flashed her hands forwards,
blasting open a gap between them and Aevah.
Closing the gap, Aevah
smiled at Erusi, a smile that she felt she hadn’t made in a long
time. “Thank you for coming.”
Erusi nodded, “I told
you that you would need it one day.”
Aevah shook her head,
“We were doing just fine, the Fel Reaver was...was cheating.”
Eudaimonia looked
expectedly between the two, then at the demons bashing on the barrier
around them. “I hate to interrupt, but we kind of have a problem to
deal with.” She swung at the barrier, catching a demon on the other
side by surprise before bringing her weapon back inside.
“Eudaimonia, meet
Aevah, my wife.” Erusi smiled at Eudaimonia and then at Aevah,
popping a small kiss on her cheek. Eudai nodded, smiled at the pair
and looked towards the barrier. “Perhaps we do proper introductions
later?”
Erusi flicked her wrist
out, her staff forming up in her hand. “I need a minute with the
barrier down, perhaps you can...buy me some time?” She smiled at
the two of them, clasping at her staff with both hands.
